The third period at the Online Poker World Championship is now on the books and the surprise of the phase has been given by the Australian grinder Mario “oMUZZAo” Tomic who managed to dominate the whole field and accumulate an amazing score of 294 points. This period triumph is not only personal; a whole continental team inside the international online poker competition is being represented with top quality style and astounding performance. With the results of the last three rounds at the OPWC we can expect a fierce fight for the poker sponsorship and money prizes which could reach $100.000 per season.

Europeans and Australians are involved in a poker game of power where the one who takes a break loses the throne. That’s what happened during period 3, the Europeans felt comfortable dominating the poker ranking without dangerous rivals around, then, out of a sudden MUZZA smashed them all and let them feel the Aussie poker muscle. “Kevster102” from the United Kingdom and “Erdium” from Germany tried their best to chase him but the best place they reached was the second and third respectively. The German was running first for Europe a couple hours before the cutoff date and the continental crown began shining in his head when his own teammate “Kevster102” snatched all possibilities from Erdium’s hands with only one single point of difference on the individual marks. The celebrations on the United Kingdom side and the fading happiness on the German’s, both online gladiators who gave everything in the arena to achieve their goals, transformed the end of another phase in a delightful scenario of poker skill, dedication and courage.
North Americans were represented by Ariel “mygameisgarbage” who manage to keep the leadership of his continental squad during the whole phase and is now waiting for the dates when the Eliminations will allow him to become a member of the team that will go to the OPWC Main Event for one chance to become the Champions of the World and receive the individual poker sponsorships of $10.000 each. The closest compatriot he had on the ranking was “onthemic514” who ended the period on the 11th spot and qualified for the coming Period Final Freeroll.
South Americans also had big changes during the last hours of the third period; “dhernandezq” who owned the leader badge since the beginning received a deadly strike from “Estudiantes” who remounted the mark of the Colombian by more than 15 units and planted Argentina’s flag on top of the summit. “dhernandezq” was seen at the tables of Winner Poker during the last hour of the period but his efforts were useless as his rival was already claiming the honors and securing his step to the next phase. If “Estudiantes” repeats his run as best of his land during the fourth period he will have a direct seat into the Main Event where he could become one of the sponsored poker professionals who will give a mega-boost to their poker careers with a $10.000 poker bankroll ready to be used at the nosebleed levels of the online poker rooms.
The OPWC is beginning the second half of the season and even though the race during the third phase was wild and the players showed they have the potential to be champions, in the end only a few sharks will get the prizes and the worldwide fame. The critical moment that is being reached at the competition requires from all participants to play even better than before given the presence of the experienced grinders and aggressive new-comers who will not make an easy task to reach at least the Top 10.
