The 4th Period at the Online Poker World Championship continues surprising and the participants keep on showing a clear improvement compared to their prior performances. Germany is still leading the poker ranking thanks to “Royaljoker” and the point advantage has reached almost ten units between him and the always tough to beat “OPWCMaltaman” whose 178 personal mark makes the Maltese grinder the current runner-up.
Another surprise of the latest updates is the Australian contestant “EnglishTim” who has taken down not only the best South American, “DhernandezQ”, but also the United Kingdom online poker professional “Kevster102” who finished second last phase. With the partial results the Aussie is taking his continental team Asia-Australia-Africa to the second position and they might climb even higher if he keeps on doing the great job he’s done till the present day. “Kevster102” who has accumulated 130 units for this period made an effective move during the previous one leaving some tournaments available for the last sprint, when the moment came he completed his 200 tourneys and was able to take the first place for the European Eliminations. If the UK player manages to win the 4th period he will have his direct ticket into the OPWC Main Event. On the other hand “DhernandezQ” lost the opportunity to qualify directly as the Argentinian “Estudiantes” made a great last minute dash and took the spot for South America. This time the Colombian player has improved his best historical mark in more than 50 units, which makes him a very difficult target to beat for the continental spot. When his countrymen attempt to take him down that will be a “must see” poker battle.
The dark side of the poker ranking shows around 18 players who haven’t been able to add the first points to their scores; the causes are unclear, it could be bad luck, tougher opponents at the tables of our accepted poker rooms, why not set of games played without enough concentration or maybe a bitter downswing that will be soon overcome. The fact is these players are still in the competition for the World Title and the juicy poker sponsorship that is waiting to be claimed at the end of the OPWC season. The nice and friendly lady from Netherlands has made and incredible run collecting 14 points during her last 5 games; if she can keep that pace for some more time it is a sure thing she could beat the best individual record and make some history inside the competition like some other great female players have done in the past periods. To support the awesome labor of the European women there’s another potential Top 10 finisher, the Norwegian “Triliro” who holds the 18th spot at the moment with forty three points. These two ladies might be crushing the scoreboard very soon and their rivals should keep an eye open to avoid losing their spots before their dangerous abilities.
