The News team had the pleasure to interview one of the hottest players of the moment inside the Online Poker World Championship: Mariano “Estudiantes” an online grinder representing Argentina and Team South America whose latest achievement was to win the Period Final where he received $150 after defeating a tough poker tournament infested with some of the most dangerous sharks of theOPWC. This is what the charismatic and skilled Argentinian shared with us.
Hi Estudiantes, it’s amazing to have the chance to talk to the flaming winner of the Period Final, please tell us how do you feel after this great success? How did you see the competitors?
It felt awesome to be the number one after such a difficult tournament. The beginning was very uniform for most players but when the blinds started to grow I managed to stay on Top 3 and I didn’t let it go till the final heads-Up where I ended up winning after I got a pair of aces; my opponent barely had to cover the price of the blind and the board didn’t help him.
Who do you think are the players with most options to win the poker sponsorships by the end of the season?
I think the Europeans are definitely the players with most possibilities, but if I can make it to the qualified spots and count on the help of other players in the final Team South America we are going to stand quite a challenge for the rest of the field.
Has the OPWC helped you to improve your game and bankroll?
Of course! I would like to thank the Online Poker World Championship for letting me participate in this thrilling competition, for increasing my poker bankroll and also for giving a boost to my confidence as a poker player. I spend now all my sessions at the tables of Winner Poker where I have been collecting points at a nice rhythm to climb the poker ranking and become a qualifier.
There you have him, a kind player with a nice energy who’s always looking for more and more triumphs; the Argentinian who crushed a field where only the best players of the World Championship had the right to compete. What’s next for him and the South American squad? Will they stand a real challenge when the Main Event is played?
