One more week is about to pass and the action at the Online Poker World Championship, OPWC, is far from stopping.
During the last days, an anonymous poker player from Germany who appears in the Ranking with the nickname “pokertest” has become a potential challenger for the top grinders of the international competition and has already taken down several recognized participants of past periods. The German mysterious player is now over the 200 points mark and has claimed the 6th spot of the leaderboard just a couple units behind the best North American rounder Ariel A.K.A “mygameisgarbage” and some digits ahead of the two highest ranked members of the Team Australia-Africa-Asia: “EnglishTim” and “oMUZZAo” who count 201 and 183 points respectively.

"Pokertest"
According to the rumors, several contestants on top ten still have games available to improve their scores. Given the case one of these gladiators ran exceptionally, we could witness the, until now impossible achievement: Dethroning the current online Sit n’ Go Queen and breaking the OPWC best individual record of all times that is set 435 units in one period; an average of 2.1 points per game assuming Eleanor “Ellie91” has already run out of games for this phase.
The minimum requirement to be considered an Elite online poker player during the Period III of the OPWC is 172 points which could at least be reached by a player whose average performance was 0.86 units per game in 200 valid SnG tourneys. The current owner of the 10th spot is “onthemic514” who has had some great moments inside the competition and is representing with pride the Maple Leaf Flag. Along with “mygameisgarbage” the Canadian constitutes North America’s hope to take the victory away from the mighty European hands which seem to be eternally hungry for poker glory.

Checking the dark side of the Online Poker World Championship Ranking, we can find there are 16 players who have been unable to add their first points, thirteen from Team Europe and three from North America. They still have plenty of time change their reality at the international poker competition but that can only happen if they keep on playing but from now on bringing the best of their arsenal to the online poker tournaments. As the well-known adage states: “A chip and a chair” is what a real rounder needs to come back and make it to the summit of any contest.
The OPWC Period III will still be underway for around 20 days more, which is long enough for any participant out there who wants to build a score, a reputation and give himself the opportunity to become the next poker legend of the online realm. The money rewards for the winners and the serious boost to the poker career they will get are a strong reason to take the OPWC free ride. 87 players are involved in the third phase of this world-class poker battle but the winner won’t be defined until the last grinder stands alone and proud by the end of the OPWC Main Event.
