The News Team at the Online Poker World Championship has the opportunity to interview another of the best players in the competition. Jonas Waker aka “Waker66” from Sweden, proud winner of the previous Period Final, title that earned him a juicy $250 prize, and current third place of the 4th period leaderboard shared some of his poker life facts with us; this is what he answered, enjoy.
Hi Jonas congratulations for your performance so far, the rest of competitors and fans on the Facebook Page have wondered who you are and how high are you going to hit this time. Please tell us how did you start playing poker? The beginning of your poker career.
I started playing poker with my friends when I was very young, but later I got a job and had to stop playing so often. 5-6 years ago I started playing on the internet and dedicated some of my leisure time to it; I mostly play tourneys and just a few cash games.
What was the reason for you to continue playing?
I think it's so much fun and exciting to play poker and you'll probably never be fully trained for it.
What are your goals playing poker?
My goal is to have fun and hopefully win some money in the meantime.
How did you know about and come to the OPWC?
I think I got an email with a link to OPWC; as I opened and explored the page I thought it was interesting so I registered myself and have been a part of the site ever since.
What do you like about the OPWC?
I like it's Poker News Coaching, with interesting and clear articles, but most of all I like that everyone can compete on equal terms, you do not need to rake race and I also like the fact there is a whole lot of money up for grabs during the season.
You won $250 and 1st place on the last Period Final how did you feel (winning against top OPWC players and taking home such a nice prize for free?
I thought it was really fun to win the tournament, it was not a large line-up but it was just right… I felt awesome sharing with good players. Despite it was a freeroll the prizes were a total plus hehe, and we all qualified for it proving we have the required skills to be there.
What are your expectations in the World Championship and how do you see the competitors?
I want to be on the highest spots of the poker ranking; the best thing would be to win a poker sponsorship with OPWC, it would be a dream to play bigger tournaments, but the competition will be fierce, it seems now all good players are here, but there’s still hope anyway : )
Do you remember any fun or interesting anecdotes of your poker games?
Yes the funniest thing I remember was when I came 2nd in a tournament and won two tournaments on the same day it was about $ 5000. The worst memory is when I was invited to a tournament at CDPoker, there was only one prize: traveling and entry fee to the Aussie Millions, about 120 players registered and I went deep into the final heads-up battle versus a guy from Australia, we were all in with the same amount of chips, I was leading the whole hand but then the river came and he connected two pairs, that was completely frustrating.
On which of the accepted poker rooms can we find you and what tourneys do you usually play?
I mostly play at Lotos Poker, but now I also play at Winner Poker and a little bit at PKR also; right now I can be found in many types of sit n’ go tourneys and also some Multi-table ones with guaranteed prizes.
Do you have any additional comments?
Keep poker live and play to have fun :)
Thank you Waker, the OPWC News Team wishes you the best of luck in the rest of the competition. Until the next one.
