The world of poker is vast and full of amazing details, strategies, tricks and of course, words; a huge quantity of terms, renewed and enriched every day, which makes The Game unique and exciting. This week the OPWC brings for you some uncommon poker slang; did you know what these words mean?
Suicide King: This is the nickname of the King of hearts because he’s the only king of the deck who’s crossing his own head with a sword. In old-fashioned cards this king was depicted with an axe instead of the nowadays blade.

Tapping the glass: According to the poker etiquette a person must not judge or criticize others during a poker game, nonetheless some professionals and experienced poker players can’t deal very well with frustration and their way to vent is telling weaker players their mistakes during the match. This is called “tapping the glass” and it’s a counter-productive practice as they are educating players they could take money from in the future.

Ten-eight-cious: This is the nickname given to the hand “T8o” by Bill Edler after this holding beat “A9s” during the WPT Celebrity Invitational in 2009. Edler came out saying the hand was played “ten-eight-ciously”
Ground Skinner: This term refers to the pre-flop situation when all players fold, letting the player on the Big Blind take the pot. It’s also known as a “walk” and it was introduced in the poker slang by Johnny Grooms during the 2005 WSOP.
